Magic permeates the land of Trast in numerous ways. It soaks the bloody battlefields between nations, haunts dark dungeons and trickles from the fingers of clever tricksters in taverns. Magic can be thought of as a resource found throughout the world, however it can be cultivated and natured like one would a plant. Such cultivation is done by mages internally absorbing magic.
The greatest problem is not who can use it rather, how reliably it can be used. The ambient magic of the environment can be used for a few small spells and cantrips. “Magic for flashy or quick, mundane to make it to stick.”
Kyaren:“For someone eager to get to the Birthday faire, you sure did sleep in late didn’t you?”
Tyto: “Sorry about that, had to help my mum move stuff last night.”
Kyaren: “Hopefully, this be worth skipping my studies for.”
Tyto: “Looks like you are studying right now, time to take a break,”
Kyaren:“Well the princess's birthday faire is once a year, would be nice to get there before the food is gone.”
Tyto:“Ok ok, let’s start walking.”
Tyto:“So is all this studying for magic worth it?”

Tyto:“Don't worry, I'll find something as long it's not boring and makes good lyli.”
Kyaren: “I will spell check your future beggar sign for you: 'will be stupid for food.”
Tyto:“I can spell stupid, and I know what it means.”
Kyaren:“Oh really, what about that time Marie Bassly pestered you to help her with the father's plough, behind their shed.”
Tyto:“Yea that was stupid, her father doesn't even own a plough.”
Kyaren:“Yes, you know so much about stupid, you live it every day.”
Tyto:“Fine, I will go take a look at the academy stalls at the faire, they always try to get new recruits.”

Instructor Wake:“HAHA! Tyto enrol at the academy, you earn more than a farmer ever could!”
Tyto:“Or fall into mediocrity competing with workaholic prodigies.” He glances over at Kyaren.
Instructor Wake: “Ah with a friend like Kyaren to tutor you....” He grins.
Kyaren:“Oh no, we established last year you two, I stay out of your little comedy skits.”

Tyto: “Hmm get dragged into a war I have no say in, get paid a miserable amount, bargain for the crown?”
Instructor Wake: “The pay increases with rank, from there you can learn how fight and go on adventures!”
Tyto: “I already know how to fight, my mother taught me.”
Kyaren: “Your mother can fight?”
Instructor Wake: “Oh really, wielding a brush is not the same as wielding a sword.”
Tyto: “Actually, you would be surprised instructor.”
