Royal Emerald Eyes Vol 1
The most defining trait of the royal house of Scendall is the gift that runs in the royal blood line. For over 700 years it is proof of their right to rule the country of Scendall. The gift is always passed from the monarch to their first-born child. Although in rare circumstances it has been passed on to the second-born child as well. Due to this selective inheritance of the power the royal family line has been kept small over the years. The gift always takes the form of bright green emerald eyes in the bearer. Over time each of these emerald eyed royals has ascended to the throne.

The first to posses these eyes was king Koraine the first. The exact nature of his eyes was never fully understood however its prescience allowed him to safe guard the fledging country of Scendall through the anarchy of the collapse of the empire of Trast. The current King Korloc has the power to see where sunlight shines anywhere within his domain. His mother the previous Queen is the first to see into the future. Scholars frequently debate what form the gift will take for the crown princess.

Magic permeates the land of Trast in numerous ways. It soaks the bloody battlefields between nations, haunts dark dungeons and trickles from the fingers of clever tricksters in taverns. Magic can be thought of as a resource found throughout the world, however it can be cultivated and natured like one would a plant. Such cultivation is done by mages internally absorbing magic.
The greatest problem is not who can use it rather how reliably it can be used. The ambient magic of the environment can be used for a few small spells and cantrips. “Magic for flashy or quick, mundane to make it to stick.”
